Organic, Not Superimposed: Defining and Operationalizing Vocation for Your Institution’s Unique Context

March 22, 2024 Galleria 5

How can we create vocational initiatives that fit organically with our institutions’ existing identity and programs, rather than pushing initiatives that feel disconnected? Abilene Christian University (TX) and Carlow University (PA) each explored this question with support from NetVUE grants. This session will focus on two stages in the process: developing a definition of vocation that fits a campus’s unique traditions, and promoting vocational thinking in ways that leverage an institution’s existing programming. While the case studies will address both institutions’ religious identities and the importance of community, session participants will have time to consider vocation in their own institution’s unique context.
